Growing up I didn't like pumpkin so much, both the orange and white varieties. But now I enjoy making pumpkin soup. I even made halwa out of it.:) I love fall in the U.S too, though I never had pumpkin spice latte.
Oooh do you make your own Masala Chai blend? I had a little giggle at the ending of the quote you shared about the pumpkin, being able to eat it at the end! :)
Yes, not a blend that is stored. We powder the spices coarsely and add it to basic tea every time we make. Lol, I couldn't help adding that funny quote. :))
Hello Kavitha, just discovered you today and am so happy to see and hear all that you enjoy. I have spent a little time in the Bay area and know how pretty it is at this time of the year.
I love everything pumpkin, too! Bring on the pies, the pumpkin soups and yes, even the pumpkin lattes! 🎃 In my mid 70's I still carve a pumpkin or two for the front porch. They sometimes have cat faces!
And like you, I feel the urge to knit when the cooler weather arrives. I certainly have enough yarn to make something! 😉 I have a 5-year-old niece who is so much fun to knit for. I made a bicycle themed summer top for her recently. Here is a link for anyone who might be interested, You will have to login but it is free, and I love the site. https://hobbii.com/the-green-jersey-tour-de-france
Love the way you have gotten comfortable with knitting! All of the previous knitting starts to pay off at some point and you just know what needs to be done. Or, you are willing to keep making trial runs until you hit upon what you are looking for! 🤩
Sometimes, when I feel the urge to knit but can't decide on a project, I make swatches of a yarn that I have on hand. I make a note of the needle size used and any other details and put the swatch and note in with the yarn for future reference.
Will look forward to catching up with your previous posts and seeing your new shawl pattern!
Hi Sandy! So glad you're here and thanks for your lovely note. Aww, cat faced pumpkins sound delightful. :)) That's a neat little pattern, Sandy. Love, love those delicate bicycle motifs. I'm guessing you duplicate stitched the chart rather than stranding? I agree about the knitting starting to pay off. For a long time, it feels like I'm just messing around and one fine day, everything just clicks into place. I love that feeling. Currently I am in the exploration phase in my spinning. :)) I like that you swatch and also take notes. Swatching and taking notes are the most essential bits in one's knitting journey. I don't know why that advice is not shared more, honestly. Thank you again for your kind words.
Hello again Kavitha, thanks for checking out the little bicycle sweater. 😄 I did it in aqua cotton and the bikes in a white cotton-poly blend that was a little glossy to make them stand out a bit more. I did 'strand' it and then tacked the strands with a single ply of the aqua on the inside. I also taught my niece the model's trick of 'removing all jewelry and making a fist of each hand' when putting on a hand knit sweater. She thought that was pretty cool! Yeah!!
Do tell more in some future post about your 'exploration phase of spinning'. Somehow, I never got around to learning to do either spinning or weaving. But I love hearing about how both are done! (And yarn dyeing too, if you do any of that.)
You must be getting pretty excited about your Shirin Shawl release! It looks like a winner to me! 🤗
Ah, ok, I thought there was a bit more than stranding to it. Thanks for explaining that. Lol! Making a fist sounds like a nice trick. I will try my best to share about spinning. I am still taking baby steps though. :) Thank you so much for your kind words about Shirin Shawl. 🤗♥️

I think it's the same with me. I enjoy both varieties of pumpkin now. I am resisting the halwa temptation so far, let's see. :))
