I'm expecting my first grandchild in January (!!). So I used organic cotton for a layette set - log cabin blanket, sweater, hat and booties. Even though it was a high quality cotton that I used before, it was sort of hard to work with - there is no give at all. When I attempted to knit the bootie it came out to fit...well... a five year old...moose. (I know it was a gauge issue, but jeez...) I substituted an acrylic yarn, and the pair of booties came out great. My point: there is room for all sorts of yarn in our creative projects...

Congratulations that is fantastic news. 🎊🎉 Absolutely Pamela, every fiber has its place, its role. I hear you on the gauge issue.. Good quality acrylic works best for baby knits especially because of the washability.

Haha, thanks for the laugh Pamela!

I am expecting my first child in January (!!) - and would love to knit a baby blanket - only haven’t done it before and no one else around me knits either, so who knows 😄🤷‍♀️

Loving every bit of it. I adore that Farrell calls her "Duchess" :)

I've used a wool-bamboo fiber blend that's very soft and enjoyable to work with.

Sounds lovely! I’ve heard good things about bamboo. Yet to try it myself.
