Kavitha, like you EZ’s books were part of my early knitting library. I knit a Baby Surprise sweater or two, and am blessed by an ongoing friendship with Amy Detjen who taught at the EZ summer camps. Thanks for bringing those memories back!
I’m at the Flock event in Seattle today. So much fun!!🤩
How wonderful Nan! My first sweater was February Lady Sweater which was a modified version of EZ’s February Baby sweater. Yay!!! Have loads of fun at Flock. 🤗 So many friends from Bay Area are there at the festival and I am going to go knit to try and alleviate my FOMO. 😅
Kavitha, thank you for this post! I somehow have been oblivious to Elizabeth Zimmermann. After reading the quotes you have included, and reading her Wikipedia entry, I can see why you appreciate her!!! What a champion of not only knitting, but also being human! I will be looking for her books to read for all of the values she shared, as well as knitting. BTW - Love the idea of knitting camps!! Thanks again for bringing her to my attention! :-)
My signature on my email "Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit either. "

Omg, I love that!!!! What better way to spread the joy!

“Knit on, with confidence and hope, through all crises.” I have this framed on my wall. Thank you for the reminders.
That sounds beautiful!
Yes, there’s a February Lady in my collection too. Loved making that one! Might have to make another. ☺️

Aw, I am glad this resonated. You are so right, she just seems to have been a wonderful human among all other things.
Thanks for this collection of EZ’s wisdom, Kavitha!
Love her books, work and thought process, so happy to share! ❤️
Thank you for the restack, Angela! ❤️
