I love this post and can relate to most of it. I am the slowest knitter on earth. And I blame myself for it cos I am slow, as I am too distracted by the phone and the unfinished book on the table that suddenly catches my eye while knitting. In the end I don't do justice to both.

I swatch when I am knitting for someone else. :)

Nowadays I read the pattern. Earlier I didn't because I felt if there was some unknown or difficult part I might be demotivated to knit.

Note taking? what is that? :) But I sincerely wish I was better organised like that :(

Thank you Vidya! I described myself as painfully slow for a long time too. I hear you. Like you say, knitting is slow but then we seem to add our own distractions and make it seem even slower! 😃 Trust me to get lost in a good story and forget what I am knitting.

I learned the hard way when I didn't read a pattern all the way through. The consequence was having to frog quite a large section of the knitting! Speed isn't everything as you've highlighted here. Hear, hear to swatching, note taking :)

Thank you Jodie. I hear you. I too have hit many a wall by just rushing through without thinking. 🫣

Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. Knitting was such an enjoyable pass time for me.

Yay, I am so happy to hear about that. Thank you for the appreciation. :)

I love that this focuses on things like finding time to knit rather than recommending that people change over to Continental knitting to increase their making speed! I found that the biggest difference in increasing the speed of my making was making sure I made time to knit.

Thank you Julia! I am so glad the idea resonates with you. We have become a society so obsessed with "fast" ; we refuse to give time to things and instead seek "faster" solutions. Even in knitting!

Aww, Robin! Take care. Even few minutes of movement inside the house or in the backyard counts.

I have to use a cane or a walker with wheels and a seat now. They put a pain pump in so I am hoping it will work out and alleviate some of this back pain.. I don’t do much anymore but knit and crochet.

I am so sorry to hear that Robin. I hope the crafts are bringing some peace to your day. Hope the pain relief works well.

I find that knitting often gets a lot of knitters completed. I’ve been in a bit of a rut, with a couple of projects that I work on a little bit at a time. Not sure what my problem is.

Sometimes, a small step back is needed. Hope the mojo returns.

I have gotten so much fast just by knitting a lot. I was always so slow! lol I do have a dedicated time that I knit and that made a huge difference.

Way to go!! That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I still struggle with the dedicated time part, but when I really do, things get done.

I knit a while early morning and early evening and it's amazing how much gets done by chipping away at it

I wish editing comments was possible. I mean knitting, not knitters😂
