The second half of December is always a whirlwind. It’s the season of holiday plans, heartfelt gatherings, and quiet moments of reflection. We look back at the year gone by and think about the changes, improvements, and hopes we carry into the next.
Measuring what matters
Year-end reviews have never been easier. Technology has a way of summarizing everything we’ve uploaded into it—our physical activity, screen time, favorite music, travels, dining experiences, photos, and books. There’s a “recap” for just about everything.
While these tools are wonderful, I’ve realized that not all metrics matter all the time. For me, measuring what truly matters keeps me grounded and preserves my sanity. (You may remember my earlier reflections on this topic.)
What mattered in 2024 for CraftDoodling Designs ?
I began the year with my design compass in mind.
Focus on creating more repeatable knits—designs you’d want to knit again and again.
Overcome my fear of fit by learning and experimenting.
Looking back, I feel proud to say I stuck to these intentions to a large extent. I pushed my boundaries, connected with so many incredible knitters, and collaborated with others in the industry through both designing and teaching.
Continuing along the same path is my intention for the coming year. The Things that kept me grounded in 2024 will continue to keep me grounded into the next year :)
My heartfelt gratitude
To everyone who’s been part of this journey—
If you’ve liked, shared, or commented on my work, tested my patterns, given me feedback, attended my classes, purchased my designs, knitted them for yourself or as gifts or even just quietly admired them from afar… Thank you.❤️You’ve brightened my days more than you know, and I’m so grateful for your support.
This holiday season…
My family and I will be taking a well-deserved break, traveling and meeting friends. I’m also looking forward to a some holiday shopping for loved ones and myself, marveling at festive decor everywhere, catching a few movies, reading books, and of course knitting.
On the home front, my teen and preteen have asked for a “music room.” It may not be ready anytime soon, but I’m already dreaming and planning right alongside them. :)
To you and your loved ones:
I wish you a warm, happy holiday season and a beautiful New Year 2025.
See you soon. ❤️

Delightful to find your handwritten note in my inbox just as I was working myself into a frenzy. Now I’ve taken a deep breath, offered a prayer of thanks for your kindness and creativity, and turned your notes about measurement into a tiny, repeatable mantra. You knit us together even when there’s no yarn involved. Be well, dear one. Can’t wait for music room updates! xo
I so enjoyed your posts this year Kavitha, and learned so much from you. I loved that hand written note about metrics that matter, it was great to read it again. May you enjoy peaceful holidays and hold your loved ones close. Wishing you much joy for the coming year. xx
