WHY REWRITE PATTERNS
As some of you might know, I originally designed Nasha as a 1-skein fingering weight shawl in 2020. It received a lot of attention and love upon its release, for which I am very grateful.
Just like knitting itself, pattern-writing too, is a craft full of choices and possibilities. And a designer's writing style can evolve over time. I rely on feedback from testers, tech-editors and knitters who buy the pattern to shape my writing. There are so many nuances, that it takes a while to get consistent with pattern writing.
Once I could see considerable difference in the way I write, I could not put off the idea of re-writing at least some of my older patterns. Especially the well-loved ones.
(Thank you! ♥️)
I also had some people suggest that Nasha would make a nice 2-skein shawl. I had also become aware of a few other techniques that could improve the shawl fabric and give it a much more polished look. Therefore, I decided to make several carefully chosen improvements and update the original pattern as well as write a separate one for a 2-skein version.
A COLLABORATION I TRULY ENJOYED WORKING FOR
At this point, Eva of thebluerabbithouse had asked me if I would like to release a shawl pattern in tandem with one of her lovely project bag launches. 👜 She kindly agreed to the shawl being an update and not a fresh release. I happily jumped in and began my work.
Working with like-minded people has to be my most favorite part of the whole knitwear design business. When it happens, nothing feels like 'work'.
When Eva showed me her sweet little seahorse illustration, I was mesmerized. I love Eva's whimsical animal sketches. She puts her heart and soul into her work and it is evident in every piece she makes. 🤍. If you are not already familiar with Eva's work, please take a moment to check out her instagram account.
Eva’s clubs for this release contains her ADORABLE seahorse project bag, 2-skeins from serafina_retrosaria in teal blue and Nasha 2.0 pattern. I believe she is sold out on these clubs already, but her bags are available for individual purchase as well. I have bought a bag from her previous designs, they are truly a pride and joy to carry around. 🥰
